For the third consecutive year, the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Prostate Centre’s Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program participated in the 16th annual Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer Symposium. This year was Vancouver’s turn to host the symposium for patients, their families and health care professionals, in conjunction with the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and the University of Washington School of Medicine. This conference brought together the leading experts on prostate cancer to present and discuss the latest findings regarding prostate cancer treatment, prevention, survivorship and scientific progress. Over 185 participants attended the meeting in Vancouver which provided a state-of-the-art update on:

  • radical prostatectomy
  • treatment of localized prostate cancer
  • medical management of advanced prostate cancer
  • hereditary cancer and genomics of prostate cancer
  • effects of androgen deprivation therapy and the increase risk for cardiovascular risk
  • the role of exercise for prostate cancer
  • enhance understanding of the impact of living with prostate cancer
