Nutrition for Prostate Cancer Patients
Healthy eating is important for people with prostate cancer, before, during and after cancer treatments. Good nutrition can help keep your energy up, keep your body strong, and help you cope with side effects. Knowing where to start and how to prioritize your nutrition needs is challenging when faced with confusing and sometimes contradictory nutrition information. Often overlooked, is the role of nutrition to manage and lower the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and diabetes. This is important as some treatments for prostate cancer can increase a person’s risk for these conditions.
We offer online nutrition resources, a monthly 1.5 hour virtual group education session and one-on-one clinical appointments led by a Dietitian to help you reach your individual nutrition goals.
It is never too early or too late to start making changes for your health and wellbeing. Even small changes to daily lifestyle habits can have good effects on health.
Please visit the “Session Dates” page for each location to see the time/date for the next available nutrition education session. If you would like to attend the session or book a clinical appointment, please contact the program coordinator.
As part of the ‘Lifestyle Management’ module of the Prostate Cancer Supportive Care (PCSC) Program, we offer nutrition information sessions for men with prostate cancer and their family members.
