Dr. Winkle Kwan, MB BS FRCPC
Site Specialist Lead
Dr. Winkle Kwan is a staff Radiation Oncologist specializing in prostate cancer treatment at BC Cancer – Surrey. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at UBC and has been practicing in Surrey for over 20 years. He has given numerous talks at local prostate cancer support groups and recently has been developing the capacity for treating prostate cancer with stereotactic radiotherapy in British Columbia. He treats prostate cancer with external beam radiation and prostate seed implants.
Alina Lalani, BSc
Alina is the Program Coordinator for the Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program at BC Cancer- Surrey. Alina received her Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University. In completing her undergraduate degree, Alina uncovered her passion for health and wellness, and for finding ways to both promote and maintain these important aspects of life. In hopes of further developing her skillset in the field, in September of 2018, Alina commenced part-time studies to obtain her Masters in Public Health. Prior to joining the PCSC Program, Alina worked for a local non-profit; with the Ministry of Children and Family Development; and with BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services.
Joseph Siriban, BScN, RN
Joe is the Sexual Health Nurse for the PCSC program at BC Cancer – Surrey. He has been a nurse for 12 years, half of which have been in the field of Oncology. Before transitioning to Oncology, he worked with the elderly population providing safe care and ensuring good quality of life at Extendicare – Elmview in Regina, Saskatchewan. Following this, Joe commenced work at the Alan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, where he worked for 3 years, providing chemotherapy treatments to patients of the Centre. Joe moved to BC’s Westcoast in 2017 and joined the remarkable team at the Fraser Valley Cancer Centre. His work consisted primarily of systemic therapy and ambulatory care, which he enjoyed for his ability to engage with patients, as well as the many opportunities to collaborate among and within disciplines. Joe is looking forward to sharing his experience, skills, and ideas on ways to provide a holistic approach to care for our patients.
